san fran grand re-openingOn December 5, Poggenpohl celebrated the grand reopening of Poggenpohl’s San Francisco Kitchen Design Studio. More than 100 guests filled the showroom to view the stunning kitchen displays and newly expanded open layout showroom. They enjoyed a lively scene complete with sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The night also included fantastic raffle prizes; including a Miele Vacuum Cleaner, Dornbracht faucet, a signed book “Inside Out” by local architect, Swatt Mier, Riedel wine glasses and local restaurant gift certificates. Many designers, architects, media and industry insiders were among those celebrating the modern designs of Poggenpohl. Neil Bailey, the new president of Poggenpohl US, attended the event to great the guests and to toast to Poggenpohl’s 120th year anniversary. Special thanks to our even sponsors and loyal partners Miele and Silestone.

hdseeusiconThe owners of a Tudor-style, 1920’s home in Washington D.C. were looking to renovate their house, including their outdated kitchen. They wanted to keep the existing architecture while introducing a modern feel.

Architect Caroline Boutte envisioned a timeless look throughout the entire house that would bridge past and present. To evoke that classic aesthetic in the kitchen, they relied on symmetry of design, with a perfectly centered island and a bank of mirrors on one side of the room that mimics the windows directly across. She worked with Poggenpohl Georgetown (www.washingtondc.poggenpohl.com) designer Elizabeth Cosby to create an uncluttered space with clean lines and functional work areas that would feel both modern and timeless.

They used Honey onyx for the walls and backsplash, backlighting the stone surfaces to create a kind of halo effect near the ceiling.

Poggenpohl’s sustainable Teak collection of cabinetry blends harmoniously with the onyx surfaces, and Juparano Gold granite countertops meld almost seamlessly where they meet the onyx backsplash. Miele appliances are carefully concealed behind cabinetry to maintain a spare, uncluttered look.
